For many years I have loved the luminous and enchanting work of the French ceramic artist Clément Massier (1844-1917), who perfected the art of the iridescent glaze in Europe in the 1880s. Working with the Symbolist painter Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer, he created a complex and mysterious world of organic forms in clay--paintings on sculptures. Images from the surfaces of this world are seen throughout this site.
